Woman is suing the well-known El Super grocery store in Baldwin Park and its parent company, Chedraui USA, Inc.
Its 5-page lawsuit, obtained and reviewed by Baldwin Park News, was filed in late April 2025 in a Los Angeles County Superior Court.
It accuses the Baldwin Park El Super—located at 14103 Ramona Boulevard—of premises liability and personal injury in connection with an incident that occurred on May 3, 2023.
According to court documents, the woman entered the store to shop for groceries when she suddenly slipped on a puddle of water on the floor and fell hard onto her back.
Its lawsuit alleges that El Super breached its duty to use ordinary care to keep and maintain the floors of El Super in a reasonably safe condition by failing to remedy and clean up water that had accumulated and was present on the floor.
El Super discovered and had knowledge of the presence of the water on the floor but failed to remedy the dangerous condition in a timely manner even though it had sufficient time to clean up the water, its lawsuit mentioned.
As a result, Plaintiff slipped on the water on the floor and fell on her back, causing injury to her person, according to the lawsuit.
As Plaintiff laid on the floor in pain, she noticed that she had slipped on a puddle of water that had accumulated on the floor and which she did not see as she walked, the suit mentioned.
Immediately after Plaintiff’s fall, her husband also observed the water on the floor.
An employee of El Super who was working in the meat department near the area of the fall apologized to Plaintiff and her husband because “nobody cleaned this water up,” according to the lawsuit.
Plaintiff immediately began to experience excruciating pain in her lower back, head, neck, and left hip area.
Emergency medical personnel were called and responded to the scene. Plaintiff was immediately transported by ambulance to the hospital.
Plaintiff underwent testing and, among her injuries, was diagnosed with an L-1 vertebral traumatic wedge compression fracture.
Baldwin Park News reached out to El Super, also known as Chedraui USA, Inc., for a statement.
El Super did not respond to Baldwin Park News’ comments.

Su demanda de 5 páginas, obtenida y revisada por Baldwin Park News, se presentó a fines de abril de 2025 en un Tribunal Superior del Condado de Los Ángeles.

Según documentos judiciales, la mujer ingresó a la tienda para comprar comestibles cuando de repente resbaló en un charco de agua en el piso y cayó con fuerza sobre su espalda.
Su demanda alega que El Super incumplió su deber de utilizar el cuidado ordinario para mantener y mantener los pisos de El Super en condiciones razonablemente seguras al no remediar y limpiar el agua que se había acumulado y estaba presente en el piso.

Como resultado, la demandante resbaló en el agua del piso y cayó de espaldas, causándole lesiones a su persona, según la demanda.
Mientras la demandante yacía en el piso con dolor, notó que se había resbalado en un charco de agua que se había acumulado en el piso y que no vio mientras caminaba, mencionó la demanda.
Inmediatamente después de la caída de la demandante, su esposo también observó el agua en el piso.
Una empleada de El Super que trabajaba en el departamento de carnes cerca del área de la caída se disculpó con la demandante y su esposo porque “nadie limpió esta agua”, según la demanda.
La demandante inmediatamente comenzó a experimentar un dolor insoportable en la parte baja de la espalda, la cabeza, el cuello y el área de la cadera izquierda.
El personal médico de emergencia fue llamado y respondió a la escena. El demandante fue trasladado de inmediato en ambulancia al hospital.
La demandante se sometió a pruebas y, entre sus lesiones, se le diagnosticó una fractura por compresión traumática en cuña vertebral L1.
