Three people were arrested last Thursday afternoon after authorities uncovered an illegal marijuana grow operation at a Baldwin Park residence while responding to a report of a structure fire.
At approximately 12:12 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026, officers with the Baldwin Park Police Department and personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department were dispatched to a home in the 14300 block of Merced Avenue following a report of a structure fire.
Upon arrival, officers and firefighters arrived at the scene and observed light smoke coming from a property.
As a precaution, first responders immediately began investigating the source of the smoke to determine whether there was an active fire or any potential threat to nearby residents or surrounding homes.
Officers with the Baldwin Park Police Department and personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department conducted a thorough inspection of the area and nearby properties.
Its smoke was eventually traced to a structure located at the rear of one of the properties.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel later determined that there was no active fire at the residence.
During a subsequent investigation of the rear structure, officers and firefighters discovered an illegal marijuana grow operation inside.
As a result of the discovery, three individuals were taken into custody, the Baldwin Park Police Department told Baldwin Park News.
No injuries were reported during the incident, and officials did not disclose the size or scope of the grow operation.
