Man who was fatally shot alongside a Baldwin Park Police Department officer on Saturday has been identified as 43-year-old Darius Wong of Hacienda Heights.
According to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, Wong died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
A GoFundMe campaign launched late Monday by his brother describes Wong as a devoted husband, father, son, and brother who was tragically caught in the line of fire while walking to a family celebration.
“I’m reaching out with a heavy heart following the sudden and heartbreaking passing of my older brother, Darius Wong,” the campaign states. “Darius left this world far too soon and in the most innocent of ways—without truly knowing what was happening. He was a kind soul with so much more life ahead of him.”
Family members say Wong was an innocent bystander. After parking his car several blocks away from the gathering, he was walking alone when he was shot.
According to the family, his vehicle was nowhere near the suspect’s residence.
He had just dropped off his wife, two young daughters, and sister-in-law at the party.
“If his wife and sister-in-law had been with him at that moment, they would’ve been victims as well,” his brother wrote.
Darius Wong family is now seeking both justice and support.
“No one should have to experience what he went through, and we won’t stop until the truth is known and accountability is found,” the campaign reads.
Wong is remembered as a man with a deep commitment to helping others—both at home and in his profession.
“He committed himself to helping everyone in need, both inside and outside the hospital,” his brother wrote.
Wong worked at CHOC Children’s Hospital in Orange, where he showed up for his dedication and compassion.
One touching memory shared by the family involved Wong, was him helping his daughters create an ice cream truck for a school project.
He leaves behind his wife, Mindy, and their two daughters, ages three and five.
Its GoFundMe page is raising funds to help cover funeral costs and provide financial support to the family as they cope with the devastating loss.
“Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to us during this incredibly difficult time,” the campaign says.

Era un alma amable con mucha más vida por delante.”
Los familiares dicen que Wong era un espectador inocente. Después de estacionar su automóvil a varias cuadras de la reunión, caminaba solo cuando le dispararon.
Según la familia, su vehículo no estaba cerca de la residencia del sospechoso.
Acababa de dejar a su esposa, sus dos hijas pequeñas y su cuñada en la fiesta.
“Si su esposa y su cuñada hubieran estado con él en ese momento, también habrían sido víctimas”, escribió su hermano.
La familia de Darius Wong ahora busca justicia y apoyo.
“Nadie debería tener que experimentar lo que pasó, y no nos detendremos hasta que se sepa la verdad y se encuentren responsabilidades”, dice la campaña.
Wong es recordado como un hombre con un profundo compromiso de ayudar a los demás, tanto en el hogar como en su profesión.
“Se comprometió a ayudar a todos los necesitados, tanto dentro como fuera del hospital”, escribió su hermano.
Wong trabajó en el Hospital Infantil CHOC en Orange, donde se presentó por su dedicación y compasión.
Un recuerdo conmovedor compartido por la familia involucrada con Wong fue él ayudando a sus hijas a crear un camión de helados para un proyecto escolar.

Samuel Riveros, oficial del Departamento de Policía de Baldwin Park, de 35 años, murió mientras estaba de servicio.
