Two Firefighters were left with moderate injuries on Wednesday after a Commercial Fire in the City of Baldwin Park.
On Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at approximately 6:40 pm, the Los Angeles County Fire Department & the Baldwin Park Police Department responded to a reported Commercial Fire near the 3000 Block of Baldwin Park Blvd in the City of Baldwin Park.
On arrival of first responders, they discovered an abandoned one-story commercial building that was heavily engulfed in flames, from a boarded-up restaurant.
At approximately 7:00 pm a 2nd alarm commercial fire was requested according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Fifty-four firefighters knocked down the fire in 94 minutes, calling a knockdown at approximately 8:34 pm according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Two Firefighters sustained moderate injuries & were transported to a local area hospital.
The on-and off-ramps to the 10 Freeway at Baldwin Park Blvd remained closed while firefighters attempted to extinguish any remaining pockets of fire and investigated the cause of the fire.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department stayed on the scene for 4 hours and 23 minutes closing the incident at 11:02 pm.
The abandoned restaurant was Mariscos King Fish Restaurant that permanently closed last year. Starbucks bought the abandoned restaurant with the intention of relocating an existing Starbucks on Baldwin Park Blvd and Francisquito Avenue to the abandoned restaurant to include a drive-thru.
According to building records, the structure was constructed in 1967.

Cincuenta y cuatro bomberos derriban un segundo incendio de alarma en un edificio abandonado en Baldwin Park el miércoles, dejando a dos bomberos con lesiones moderadas
Dos bomberos quedaron con lesiones moderadas el miércoles después de un Incendio Comercial en la Ciudad de Baldwin Park.
El miércoles 7 de julio de 2021, aproximadamente a las 6:40 pm, el Departamento de Bomberos del Condado de Los Ángeles y el Departamento de Policía de Baldwin Park respondieron a un Incendio Comercial reportado cerca del Bloque 3000 de Baldwin Park Blvd en la Ciudad de Baldwin Park.
A la llegada de los socorristas, descubrieron un edificio comercial abandonado de un piso que estaba fuertemente envuelto en llamas, de un restaurante tapiado.
Aproximadamente a las 7:00 pm se solicitó una segunda alarma de incendio comercial de acuerdo con el Departamento de Bomberos del Condado de Los Ángeles.
Cincuenta y cuatro bomberos derribaron el fuego en 94 minutos, llamando a un derribo aproximadamente a las 8:34 pm según el Departamento de Bomberos del Condado de Los Ángeles. Dos bomberos sufrieron lesiones moderadas y fueron transportados a un hospital local.
Las rampas de entrada y salida a la autopista 10 en Baldwin Park Blvd permanecieron cerradas mientras los bomberos intentaban extinguir los focos de fuego restantes e investigaban la causa del incendio.
El Departamento de Bomberos del Condado de Los Ángeles se quedó en la escena durante 4 horas y 23 minutos cerrando el incidente a las 11:02 pm.
El restaurante abandonado era Mariscos King Fish Restaurant que cerró permanentemente el año pasado. Starbucks compró el restaurante abandonado con la intención de reubicar un Starbucks existente en Baldwin Park Blvd y Francisquito Avenue al restaurante abandonado para incluir un drive-thru.
Según los registros de construcción, la estructura fue construida en 1967.
