Nearly 100 breast cancer survivors and their loved ones came together at Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center on September 26, 2025, for a heartfelt celebration of life, strength, and resilience.
Its Breast Cancer Survivorship Luncheon served as a powerful reminder of courage and community, giving survivors the opportunity to reflect on their journeys and celebrate milestones in their recovery.
The event, held just days before the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, aimed to honor the strength of those who have battled the disease and to inspire others facing similar challenges.
Guests enjoyed a catered lunch and meaningful conversations, while hospital leaders and care representatives took the stage to offer words of encouragement and admiration for their perseverance.
In addition to the luncheon, attendees participated in an interactive art activity, painting wooden butterflies to symbolize transformation, healing, and the strength to “continue to soar.”
Its finished butterflies were later displayed outside the Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center, creating a moving tribute to survival and renewal.
According to the American Cancer Society, an estimated 316,950 women were expected to be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in the United States this year, and about one in eight women will face the disease at some point in their lifetime.
Kaiser Permanente reported that there are currently more than 4 million breast cancer survivors across the nation.
Experts emphasized that early detection remains one of the most important factors in improving outcomes.
When breast cancer is identified at a localized stage, the five-year relative survival rate is about 99%.
