U.S. Border Patrol agents were seen stopping pedestrians and entering a Baldwin Park Car Wash Tuesday afternoon, raising concern among residents in the community.
Its incident was captured on videos obtained by Baldwin Park News, which show federal agents arriving in an unmarked vehicle.
In one video recorded near a retail center in the 14300 Block of Ramona Boulevard at approximately 1:59 p.m., a pedestrian is seen walking through a retail center when the unmarked vehicle pulls back.
One Border Patrol agent exits the vehicle and approaches the man in the videos obtained by Baldwin Park News.
Its adult male appears to have a calm, non-confrontational exchange with the agent. After a short conversation, he walks away without being detained.
Its footage does not contain any audible audio, and the reason for the stop remains unclear.
Moments later, the same vehicle is seen departing the area.
Shortly afterward, the unmarked vehicle arrives at the Baldwin Park Car Wash, just a few blocks away, located in the 4200 Block of Sterling Way.
In a second video, at least four Border Patrol agents are seen speaking with employees on-site.
While no arrests or detentions are visibly captured in the footage, Baldwin Park News was not able to confirm whether anyone was taken into custody during the visit.
Its sudden, unannounced presence of federal immigration agents has stirred anxiety among local residents, especially in Baldwin Park—a community with a large immigrant population and a long-standing concern over immigration enforcement tactics.
This recent sighting follows a coordinated series of federal immigration raids that occurred in the city earlier this month.
In that earlier incident, federal agents arrived in Baldwin Park shortly at approximately 9:00 a.m. and reportedly focused on day laborers and pedestrians at various locations.
At least one individual was detained, though it remains unclear whether that person was later released or transferred into federal custody.
Among those who witnessed the earlier June operation was Baldwin Park Council Member Emmanuel J. Estrada.
Just blocks from the Home Depot, Estrada encountered immigration agents near Puente Avenue and Francisquito Avenue.
Estrada approached a man who appeared to be in the middle of a questioning and advised him, “Hey, you don’t have to respond to anything,” repeating, “Don’t respond to anything.”
Council Member Estrada, a vocal advocate for immigrant rights, is the son of working-class immigrants and has long maintained strong ties to the local community.
