The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner identified a 52-year-old transient who was fatally struck by a vehicle in Baldwin Park on March 17, 2022.
Officers from the Baldwin Park Police Department responded to a 911 call of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 3500 Block of Puente Avenue at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2022.
Officers arrived on the scene to find a 52-year-old adult male lying in the street, seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by Fire Department personnel.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured and stayed at the scene, the Baldwin Park Police Department told Baldwin Park News at the time.
According to the preliminary investigation, the pedestrian was hit while pulling a shopping cart between the traffic lanes of Puente Avenue. The Baldwin Park Police Department told Baldwin Park News at the time, that alcohol and or drugs were not suspected of a role.
The victim was identified as Mario Hernandez, 52 years old, who suffered Multiple Traumatic Injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.
