On Thursday, November 12, 2020, at approximately 1:50 pm, a Baldwin Park Police Department officer observed a vehicle recently reported stolen out of Lakewood, in the parking lot of Walmart located near the 3200 Block of Big Dalton Avenue in the City of Baldwin Park. Officers followed the suspect’s vehicle, before catching up with the vehicle.
The suspect exited the moving vehicle, which struck a wall near the 3500 Block of Big Dalton Avenue in the City of Baldwin Park.
A foot pursuit ensued, while an officer climbed over a wrought iron fence during the incident, the officer impaled his left leg on a wrought iron tine.
Officers apprehended the suspect a short distance away.
Paramedics arrived on the scene to treat the injured officer, and he was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for further treatment. The officer was medically treated and later released that day.
A firearm was recovered from the vehicle. A female passenger who had remained inside the vehicle was taken into custody without incident and was issued a citation and released with a court appearance in the near future. The male suspect was taken into custody pending his arraignment.
