The City of Baldwin Park hosted a Drive-Thru Food Event for individuals in need and affected by the pandemic on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Morgan Park near the 4100 Block of Baldwin Park Blvd, in the City of Baldwin Park.
The City partnered with multiple partnerships like County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, La Regional Food Bank, LA County Federation Labor, Labor Community Services LA, and UFCW Local 1428.
They provided to thousands of households with dry goods such as pasta, rice, a box filled with fresh produce, frozen chicken and hand sanitizers.
Other volunteers that helped during the distribution were the City of Baldwin Park staff members, Valley County Water District, Waste Management, America’s Job Center Of California-Baldwin Park, among other volunteers.
It was estimated that the City of Baldwin Park distributed boxes to approximately 7,000 to 8,000 individuals.
During the past months since the pandemic started, the City has assisted residents. Services like providing food to residents, weekly meal delivery to senior citizens, access to COVID-19 testing sites in the city, as well as providing small business grants.
On May 1, 2020, the city also had a Drive-Thru Food Event at Morgan Park. The City was able to serve over 3,136 families throughout the event.
