Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has identified a teenager killed in an early-morning shooting outside a 7-Eleven in Baldwin Park on Saturday.
Its victim was identified as 15-year-old Omar Flores by the Department of Medical Examiner.
Medical Examiner determined his manner to be a homicide following an investigation conducted by Medical Examiner Investigator Karen Tapia and a deputy medical examiner.
His cause was determined to be a gunshot wound of the chest, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau told Baldwin Park News on Sunday that the investigation remains ongoing, with limited details available as they work to piece together what led to the shooting.
At this time, investigators have not established a motive behind the deadly shooting, Detectives with the Homicide Bureau told Baldwin Park News.
Homicide Bureau detectives also told Baldwin Park News that two additional individuals were injured in the incident and are currently listed in critical but stable condition.
No one inside the 7-Eleven store was injured during the shooting, detectives told Baldwin Park News.
At approximately 5:10 a.m. Saturday, officers with the Baldwin Park Police Department, along with personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, responded to reports of a gunshot victim near the intersection of Bess Avenue and Garvey Avenue.
Upon arrival, first responders found a male juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot of the Baldwin Park 7-Eleven.
Its victim, later identified as Omar Flores, was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 5:33 a.m. by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel.
Hours later, after the initial shooting, Detectives established a second crime scene near the intersection of Bess Avenue and Syracuse Avenue, though it remains unclear how it was connected to the initial incident.
At the 7-Eleven location, investigators recovered multiple shell casings, and a tent was placed over the area where Flores was found as detectives processed the scene for evidence.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau is assisting the Baldwin Park Police Department with the ongoing investigation.
Its 7-Eleven near Bess Avenue and Garvey Avenue has been the site of several prior incidents.
Baldwin Park News most recently reported on the location in December 2025, when shell casings were recovered following another shooting outside the store.
In a separate incident in November 2025, another shooting involving juveniles occurred just feet away from the convenience store, near a nearby bridge.
Officers recovered multiple spent shell casings in that case, which callers identified as the source of the gunfire, the Baldwin Park Police Department told Baldwin Park News.
