Baldwin Park mourns the loss of Former Councilmember Teri G. Muse who passed away on April 27, 2023.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023, Baldwin Park Police Department and the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the Muse residence in response to a report of a medical emergency.
According to the Baldwin Park Police Department, they located an adult female who was not breathing.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department.
Muse was 59 years old, according to the City of Baldwin Park.
“With heavy hearts, Baldwin Park City Council and City staff extend our deepest condolences to the Muse family,” said Mayor Emmanuel J. Estrada. “Teri will always be remembered and celebrated for her invaluable contributions to Baldwin Park. She will be missed greatly in our community and her impact will forever live on in the hearts of our Baldwin Park family.”
Muse, a resident of Baldwin Park for more than 33 years, played an important role as a valued member of the Baldwin Park community.
In addition to serving on the Baldwin Park City Council for six years, Muse served as a commissioner on the City’s Human Services Commission, president of the Baldwin Park Chamber of Commerce, and a co-founder and board member of the Baldwin Park Business Association and other various community organizations.
Muse, first appointed to the Council in 1994, was instrumental in establishing Baldwin Park’s one-stop service center to assist the community with access to much-needed social services.
Residents now know the center as the Teri G. Muse Family Service Center at Morgan Park.
Muse, who held a bachelor’s degree in public relations from California State University, Los Angeles, had an expansive career. She was a public relations manager at Kaiser Permanente and a community public relations manager at Waste Management.
She also was a business owner with Mary Kay Cosmetics. Over the years, Muse and her husband of 37 years, David, a member of the Valley County Water District Board, have served in various public and community service capacities, giving their time and energy to make Baldwin Park a better place. The Muse family continues to be committed to helping the Baldwin Park community.
Teri is survived by her husband, David, their four children, David Paul, Ariana Guylene, Taylor Lee, and Sean Dylan, her siblings Joyce Ann, Paul Gregory (spouse: Gabby), Michael Jefferson (spouse: Krystina), and extended family.

Instead of flowers, the Muse family is requesting donations to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
