Blood trail was left behind after a man was stabbed and a truck was carjacked near a Baldwin Park IHOP, leading to a police pursuit and the arrest of a suspect, in new obtained details.
At approximately 11:34 a.m. Saturday, officers with the Baldwin Park Police Department responded to the area of Baldwin Park Boulevard and Tracy Street following a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.
Officers arrived at the scene and found an adult male suffering from multiple stab wounds to various parts of his body.
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital for further medical treatment.
Its victim was last listed in stable condition, the Baldwin Park Police Department told Baldwin Park News.
Prior to the victim being transported to the hospital, the victim provided officers with information that assisted Baldwin Park Police Department officers in identifying the suspect.
Officers also determined that, shortly after the stabbing, the suspect carjacked a vehicle at the Sierra Center Shopping Center.
Based on information that the suspect may have still been in the area, Baldwin Park Police Department officers searched a nearby Chevron gas station and Macdonald’s store.
By the time Baldwin Park Police Department officers arrived, the suspect had already fled the location.
Later that afternoon, West Covina Police Department officers located the vehicle involved in the carjacking within the city of West Covina.
Its suspect fled from West Covina Police Department officers, triggering a pursuit that continued through Baldwin Park and surrounding communities.
At approximately 3:05 p.m., the pursuit came to an end near the intersection of Francisquito Avenue and Puente Avenue in Baldwin Park, where officers took the suspect into custody.
Both the suspect and the victim were experiencing homelessness, the Baldwin Park Police Department told Baldwin Park News.
Its motive for the stabbing remains under investigation.
Baldwin Park Police Department was also investigating whether a dispute involving drugs may have preceded the attack.
Its suspect was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, while the West Covina Police Department was expected to pursue additional charges in connection with the police pursuit.
