Cyclist was killed early Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle through an industrial area of Baldwin Park.
At approximately 4:56 a.m., Baldwin Park Police Department Officers were dispatched following a 9-1-1 call about a collision involving a cyclist and a vehicle near the intersection of Live Oak Avenue and Stewart Avenue.
As Baldwin Park Police Department officers arrived at the scene, personnel from the Irwindale Police Department were already on the scene administering aid to the injured cyclist.
Moments later, paramedics from Los Angeles County Fire Department Station 29 arrived and attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
As of Saturday, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner had not yet released the victim’s identity, pending notification of his next of kin, according to the Medical Examiner.
He was only described as a man in his 50s, the Baldwin Park Police Department told Baldwin Park News.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash remained at the scene and cooperated fully with the investigation, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department.
Baldwin Park Police Department told Baldwin Park News that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
Its circumstances leading up to the collision are still under investigation.
