Baldwin Park Police Department detained an individual in connection with recent assaults on two teenage girls earlier this month.
Both assaults targeted high school-aged females, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department.
The initial incident occurred on Friday, December 8, 2023, at approximately 9:00 a.m., when a sixteen-year-old female was walking north on the 3900 Block of Big Dalton Avenue from Central Avenue in Baldwin Park.
According to the Baldwin Park Police Department, a male suspect approached her from behind.
He attempted to forcibly take her cell phone, leading to a physical altercation, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department.
She bravely refused to surrender her phone. During a scuffle, the suspect grabbed her, held her against a fence, and forcefully hauled her across the street, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department.
She managed to break free from the suspect and reach a safe area, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department.
Security footage captured the suspect fleeing the scene on foot.
The second assault occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, in the 3600 block of Vineland Avenue and the 3500 Block of Ahern Drive in Baldwin Park.
Following an extensive investigation by the Baldwin Park Police Department’s Detective Bureau and Gang Detectives.
In collaboration with officials from the Baldwin Park Unified School District, a person of interest was arrested a few days later.
A search warrant was executed at a residence in Baldwin Park, leading to the collection of evidence linked to the offense.

En colaboración con funcionarios del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Baldwin Park, una persona de interés fue arrestada unos días después.
Se ejecutó una orden de allanamiento en una residencia en Baldwin Park, lo que llevó a la recopilación de pruebas relacionadas con el delito.
