Baldwin Park Unified School District held a Grand Opening late last month for its renovated soccer field and track at Olive Middle School on May 20, 2022.
Olive Middle School’s Principal Martin Palacios gave a welcoming address before cutting the ribbon, and the Think Together program students from the school finished the event by jogging the track and playing soccer on the new field.
Olive Middle School’s mascot, a noble lancer on a horse, as well as the District’s emblem are visible on the field’s center.
The School’s band performed at the start of the event and kicked off the festivities with the National Anthem.
City and local dignitaries gathered for the celebration of Olive Middle School’s renovated soccer field.
Baldwin Park Unified School District Elected officials Board Clerk/Vice President Diana E. Miranda-Dzib, J.D., Superintendent of Baldwin Park Unified School District Froilan Mendoza, and Santos Hernandez, Jr., attended the event. Baldwin Park’s Chief Executive Officer Enrique Zaldivar, Councilwoman Alejandra Avila, Mayor of Baldwin Park Emmanuel J. Estrada, and Director of Recreation and Community Services Manuel Carrillo Jr., attended the event. Directors of Valley County Water District Ralph Galvan, and Director Javier E. Vargas attended the event.
One of the final Measure K-funded projects to be finished is the field refurbishment, which got underway in 2019. Voters approved Measure K in 2006.
“We are so grateful to the Baldwin Park community for approving this bond, which will ensure the District can provide improved school safety and security, and enhanced learning and athletic facilities that support excellence in the classroom and on the field,” Superintendent Dr. Froilan N. Mendoza said.

El Distrito Escolar Unificado de Baldwin Park celebró una gran inauguración a fines del mes pasado para su campo de fútbol y pista renovados en Olive Middle School el 20 de mayo de 2022.
El director de Olive Middle School, Martin Palacios, pronunció un discurso de bienvenida antes de cortar la cinta, y los estudiantes del programa Think Together de la escuela terminaron el evento trotando en la pista y jugando fútbol en el nuevo campo.

Uno de los últimos proyectos financiados por la Medida K que se completará es la remodelación del campo, que se puso en marcha en 2019. Los votantes aprobaron la Medida K en 2006.
