On Friday, April 24, 2026, at approximately 5:07 a.m., a 9-1-1 call reported a shooting near Millbury Avenue and Merced Avenue in Baldwin Park.
Officers with the Baldwin Park Police Department, along with personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, arrived to find three adults, two men and one woman, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Two of the victims, identified as 60-year-old Thaun Chung and 56-year-old Bich Lu, were a couple, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau.
Both were also residents of Baldwin Park, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner told Baldwin Park News.
Loved ones said the violence was carried out by a relative who allegedly had reportedly been struggling with schizophrenia.
In the time leading up to the shooting, the individual had allegedly made threats toward the family, creating an atmosphere of fear.

Their daughter is preparing to begin her first year at the University of California, Irvine, holding tightly to the dreams her parents always encouraged her to pursue.
Her brother is just two months away from graduating from the University of California, Riverside, a milestone their parents worked tirelessly to help him reach but one they will never get to witness.
Instead of celebrating those life-changing moments together, both siblings are now forced to navigate a future shaped by loss, carrying both their grief and their parents’ hopes as they try to move forward.
As of Friday, the GoFundMe campaign has raised more than $83,000, moving the family closer to its fundraising goal.
According to the fundraiser, the donations will help cover funeral and memorial expenses, college tuition, and the basic living costs the siblings now face without their parents.
