Shooting and armed robbery suspect was taken into custody Thursday night after leading the Baldwin Park Police Department on two separate, high-speed pursuits through Baldwin Park and surrounding communities.
At approximately 10:17 p.m., officers with the Baldwin Park Police Department responded to reports of shots fired near Olive Street and Merced Avenue.
Upon arrival, witnesses reported that a driver had fired multiple rounds into the air before fleeing the scene.
Responding Baldwin Park Police Department officers quickly began canvassing the area and obtained a description of the suspect vehicle, a white Chevrolet pickup truck.
Shortly thereafter, officers located a truck matching the description and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver refused to yield, leading to a pursuit.
Its pursuit continued onto the eastbound 210 Freeway, where the suspect drove recklessly through heavy traffic, posing a significant danger to other motorists.

Baldwin Park Police Department officers ultimately terminated the pursuit, and the suspect vehicle was last seen near the eastbound 210 Freeway at Vernon Avenue in Azusa.
As the investigation unfolded, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department advised Baldwin Park Police Department that the same vehicle had also been connected to an armed robbery reported in an unincorporated area of Covina.
At approximately 10:53 p.m., with assistance from the Los Angeles County Sheriff Aero Bureau, authorities were able to relocate the suspect vehicle once again within Baldwin Park City limits.
Prompting a second pursuit, that ultimately came to an end at approximately 11:15 p.m. in the 4600 block of Walnut Street after the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
Officers followed the suspect and were ultimately able to detain him at a nearby property without further incident.
Following the arrest, officers with the Baldwin Park Police Department recovered approximately five expended shell casings along Olive Street and Bresse Avenue.
