Documents obtained through formal public records requests under the California Public Records Act indicate that, during interviews with investigators, staff members described the individual’s conduct approximately three months prior to the incident as “aggressive” and “unprofessional.”
According to the investigative records, school administrators held a meeting with the individual to address concerns regarding interactions with colleagues.
Its records reviewed do not provide additional details regarding the outcome of that meeting or whether any formal disciplinary action was taken.
Investigative materials further note that the individual called in sick for the first half of her scheduled workday on May 1, 2025, and was not required to report to campus until approximately 11:30 a.m. that morning.
During the law enforcement response later that day, records state that a K-9 unit was deployed to examine the individual’s vehicle.
According to the investigative report, the K-9 gave two positive alerts indicating the possible presence of explosive-related materials.

On May 1, 2025, at approximately 9:50 a.m., a Baldwin Park Police Department officer responded to Olive Middle School regarding a 49-year-old female, identified as S-1, who was reportedly causing a disturbance with school staff inside the main office.
According to the Baldwin Park Police Department Dispatch Center, S-1 was reportedly waving a stick inside the office while demanding money.
Upon arrival, the officer met with three other Baldwin Park Police Department personnel who were positioned southeast of the school’s main office.
At the same time, school staff were evacuating students to the grassy field on the west side of the campus.
At that time, a Baldwin Park Police Department officer observed (Redacted) standing in the doorway of the exterior door leading into the assistant principal’s office, located on the southeast corner of the main office building.
(Redacted) was holding a neon yellow softball, which appeared to have a hole that was plugging with her finger, according to the Police Report.
One Baldwin Park Police Department sergeant attempted to communicate with the (Redacted); however, she was irate and largely unresponsive, making nonsensical or unrelated statements about being paid money, its report mentions.
While (Redacted) was making statements, one Baldwin Park Police Department officer also reportedly heard her say that if officers came closer, there would be a “Boom,” according to documents obtained by Baldwin Park News.
In addition, in between her statements, (Redacted) began singing the song “Fireworks” by the musical artist Katy Perry.
As (Redacted) sang the chorus to the song ‘Boom, Boom, Boom,’ she raised the softball, an action described in the documents as consistent with an inference that it could detonate, according to the documents.
Believing (Redacted) may be in possession of an explosive device, the school staff evacuated the students to a nearby school, Walnut Elementary School in Baldwin Park.
Soon after, (Redacted) continued to ignore a Baldwin Park Police Department sergeant’s questions and eventually shut the door to the school’s main office.
At this point, Baldwin Park Police Department officers had no visual of (Redacted), but received confirmation from the reporting party, identified as (Redacted), that (Redacted) was the only individual inside the main office.
All other individuals inside the school’s main office were evacuated, according to documents obtained by Baldwin Park News.
(Redacted)’s husband, identified as Other-1, and (redacted)’s mother, identified as Other-2, arrived at the location.
In an attempt to de-escalate the incident, (Redacted) and (Redacted) were escorted to a patrol vehicle south of the Assistant Principal’s office, within listening distance of the unit’s public address (PA) system, and where (Redacted) was last seen.
(Redacted) and (Redacted) used the public address (PA) system multiple times from the patrol vehicle to communicate in order to talk with (redacted), and (redacted) and (redacted) attempted to convince (redacted) to exit the office and peacefully surrender herself multiple times.
(redacted) did not respond to (redacted) and (redacted) pleas and continued to stay inside the Assistant Principal’s office.
Baldwin Park Police Department’s Dispatch communication center contacted the West Covina Police Department and El Monte Police Department in regard to a drone to be used in an attempt to obtain a visual of (redacted).
El Monte Police Department and the West Covina Police Department arrived at the location shortly after, deploying the drones, which were ineffective due to the office doors being shut and the exterior windows containing black tint.
At that time, officers established a perimeter around the main office, which had multiple exit doors around the building.
In addition, the main office was not connected to any other buildings.
Officers then maintained constant observations of the building.
A Baldwin Park Police Department sergeant made multiple attempts to contact the landline phones inside the main office and the assistant principal’s office in an attempt to establish communication (Redacted), but (Redacted) did not answer.
At which time, the Baldwin Park Police Department Sergeant requested that the Baldwin Park Police Department’s dispatch communication center contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Mental Health Negotiation Team to respond.
As (redacted) remained barricaded, Baldwin Park Police Department officers then began to interview witnesses for their statements.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., the Baldwin Park Police Department first interviewed W-1 (redacted), of Olive Middle School.
On May 1, 2025, between the hours of 9:15 a.m., to 9:40 a.m., W-1 was in her office when she overheard (redacted) speaking while coming into the building.
(redacted) was unable to advise what (redacted) was saying, according to documents obtained by Baldwin Park News.
(redacted) stated that shortly after, (redacted) entered her office from the lobby.
(redacted) said (redacted) stated she was going to retire today because she won 20 million dollars.
(redacted) stated she was going to put in her resignation, and all staff at Olive Middle School were going to get paid 20 million dollars.
(redacted), stated the Principal of the school, later identified as W-2 (redacted) , came into her office.
(Redacted) stated (Redacted) told (Redacted), ‘You owe me $20 million.’ (Redacted) stated that she was resigning and listed who was going to get paid 20 million dollars.
(redacted) asked (redacted) if she can make copies of the letter and (redacted) said, “Yes”.
(redacted) left the office briefly to make copies of the letter.
Returning to the (redacted) after making copies, (redacted) observed a neon, yellow object that resembled a softball in (redacted) hands.
(redacted) stated there was an object resembling that of a hook protruding from a hole the softball had.
(redacted) said she asked (redacted) “Whats in the ball?” (redacted) said (redacted) replied with, “you’ll find out”.
(redacted) started once hearing that statement from (redacted), she began to evacuate the school.
Baldwin Park Police Department Officer asked (redacted) how she felt after observing the ball (redacted) had in her possession with the statement she had made.
(redacted) said she felt nervous and scared due to (redacted) demeanor, nonsensical statements, coupled with the fact that (redacted) was possibly “holding something dangerous” which she believed to be an explosive device.
Baldwin Park Police Department officer asked (Redacted) if she knew of (Redacted) having mental health issues in the past, and she said, ‘No.’
Its Baldwin Park Police Department Officer also asked if (Redacted) had any information that may be important to the incident.
(Redacted) reported that several teachers at Olive Middle School had made general statements that (Redacted) had been ‘off this year.’
Baldwin Park Police Department’s next individual interviewed was (redacted).
Its interview began at approximately 3:55 p.m., according to documents obtained by Baldwin Park News.
On May 1, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., (redacted) was in her office when she overheard loud talking coming from outside her office.
(redacted) heard an individual stating it was their “last day” and “resignation.”
(redacted) noticed the tone of the individual to be “aggressive.”
(redacted) exited her office and walked over to find out what the conversation was about.
(redacted) entered (redacted) office to discover both (redacted) and (redacted) inside.
(redacted) asked (redacted) what was happening.
(redacted) started (redacted) said it was her last day working at the school because she had won 20 million dollars.
(redacted) said (redacted), stated she was not going to leave the school until she received her money.
(redacted) stated, (redacted) continued to talk about the “google classroom” (redacted) said (redacted) asked to be specific about what she was referring to.
(redacted) said (redacted) replied with, “Don’t be stupid, you know what I’m, talking about.”
(Redacted) attempted to follow up with more questions; however, (redacted) ignored her.
(redacted), started she observed (redacted) holding a yellow softball with cylinder object inside, (redacted) asked (redacted) what the softball containing the cylinder was and (redacted) replied with “you’ll see what this is”
When asked (redacted) how she would describe (redacted) behavior and she replied with “erratic.”.
Based on the softball (redacted) observed (redacted) holding and the statements she reported saying, Investigators asked (redacted) how the situation made her feel.
(redacted) replied with being, “Very scared”.
Baldwin Park Police Department officer asked (redacted) whether she had any information she thought would be important to know about (redacted) or this incident.
(Redacted) stated that approximately three months ago, (redacted) began acting in a manner she described as “aggressive” and “unprofessional” toward colleagues.
(Redacted) had a meeting with (redacted) regarding her attitude towards her colleagues.
At the conclusion of the meeting, (redacted) stated that she felt “something was off” about (redacted)’s behavior and mental state.
Baldwin Park Police Department Officers interviewed W-3 who is from Olive Middle School.
Its interview began at approximately 4:10 p.m., according to documents obtained by Baldwin Park News.
On May 1, 2025, at approximately 9:25 a.m., (redacted) observed (redacted) walking toward the entrance of Olive Middle School.
It should be noted that (redacted) mentioned (redacted) called in sick for the first half of her workday on May 1, 2025, and that (redacted) was told she would not need to arrive at work until approximately 11:30 a.m.
(Redacted) walked into the main office of Olive Middle School and was greeted by (redacted). (redacted) stated (redacted) was “talking nonsense”.
(redacted) would make Statements such as having a resignation for all employees, current and former employees were going to get paid 20 million dollars each, and that her (redacted) daughter was being guarded by the military.
Based on this interaction she had with (redacted), investigators asked (redacted) how she felt and she replied with “Sad”.
(redacted) had no further interaction with (redacted).
Investigators had nothing further to ask (redacted), so Investigators concluded the interview at the time.
Investigators then interviewed the reporting party (redacted) (redacted) a Director for the Baldwin Park Unified School District.
Its interview began at approximately 4:20 p.m., according to the documents obtained by Baldwin Park News.
On May 1, 2025, at approximately 9:40 a.m., (redacted) was at Central Elementary School when she received telephone calls from supervisors at Olive Middle School regarding one of the individuals (redacted) being aggressive and erratic.
The supervisors stated that they were not able to control (redacted) under her current behavior.
(redacted) then responded to Olive Middle School to assess the situation.
Upon arrival at Olive Middle School, (redacted) met with (redacted) inside the school’s main office.
(redacted) then provided (redacted) the handwritten letter by (redacted).
(redacted) said the letter contained statements regarding (redacted)’s resignation, being paid 20 million dollars, and “the boys ate the apples”.
Soon after, (redacted) would contact (redacted) inside (redacted) office and observed her holding the softball with an (redacted) inside.
(redacted) asked (redacted) what she was holding, and (redacted) replied with, “Its going to go”.
(redacted) stepped out of the office alongside (redacted), (redacted) and W-4, identified as (redacted).
Based on the object (redacted) was holding and the statements she was making to the school staff, (redacted) dialed 9-1-1 to report this incident to the Baldwin Park Dispatch Center.
Investigators asked (redacted) how she felt as this incident was processing. (redacted) replied with being worried for everybody’s safety.
Investigators asked (redacted) why she was worried about everyone’s safety.
(redacted) stated that in speaking with (redacted) and observing the modified softball, she believed (redacted) was holding an explosive device.
Due to believing (redacted) had an explosive device in her possession, (redacted) began to start the evacuation process of Olive Middle School with the assistance of (redacted) and (redacted).
Investigators had nothing further to ask (redacted), so Investigators concluded the interview at the time.
Investigators then returned to the location of where officers were positioned, south of the main office, where (redacted) was still barricaded.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Bomb Squad was contacted by a Baldwin Park Police Department Sergeant and arrived at the scene at approximately 5:34 p.m.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Bomb Squad K-9s were deployed to (redacted), which was parked on the southeast parking lot of Olive Middle School.
During the K9 deployment, the K9 gave two positive alerts for explosives coming from (redacted) vehicle.
Documents obtained by Baldwin Park News note that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s K-9 units are trained in the detection of black powder, which is commonly used for firearm ammunition and explosives.
At approximately 6:00 p.m., two Baldwin Park Police Department detectives and an officer began to initiate options to extract (redacted) from her barricaded location in the building.
This included designing officers’ roles for communications, arrest and control, non-lethal force options, and lethal weapons, should (redacted) continue refusing to exit and surrender.
Documents obtained by Baldwin Park News note that during the course of the containment and plan of action, Baldwin Park Police Department Officers issued (redacted) instructions over the Baldwin Park Police Department Armored Rescue Vehicle (ARV) Public Address System (PA).
Officers made continuous announcements over the PA for (redacted) to exit the office and to talk/surrender to Baldwin Park Police Department Personnel.
(redacted) ignored all commands directed to her for the entire duration of the (redacted).
In addition, K-9 announcements were made advising for (redacted) to surrender or a K-9 would be deployed.
At approximately 7:00 p.m., Baldwin Park Police Department Detectives and Officers approached the east side of the main office from the original staging point.
In an attempt to shatter a window to create an opening for the drone, Officers deployed five woodblock rounds from a 40-millimeter device to several windows.
Officers were unsuccessful in breaking any windows with the five woodblock rounds, due to the windows being made of Plexiglas plastic, only causing minor damage.
Being unsuccessful, Officers repositioned themselves to the original staging area.
At approximately 9:15 p.m., Officers were finally successful in gaining entry into the Assistant Principals Office, and located (redacted) hiding in a small closet while holding a box cutter with both hands.
Several verbal commands were made for (redacted) to drop the knife, however, (redacted) refused to drop the knife.
Officers deployed less lethal beanbag rounds and 40-millimeter rounds to disarm (redacted) of the knife she was holding with her hands and refusing to let go of.
After several attempts, Officers were successful in striking (redacted) hand with a less lethal round, finally disarming her from the box cutter.
Subsequently, Covina Police Department a K9 Officer deployed K-9 Diego, at which time K-9 Diego entered the office and bit (redacted) right hand.
Knowing (redacted) was now unarmed because the K-9 was in control of her right hand, several officers entered the office to take (redacted) into custody.
Officers grabbed and controlled (redacted) right elbow; K-9 Discontinued to control (redacted) right hand.
Soon after, K-9 Diego was removed by K-9 Officer.
Officers then took control of (redacted) entire right arm. Officers brought (redacted) right arm closer to the center of her back, at which time she was handcuffed by a K9 Officer.
Detectives and K9 Officers, picked up (redacted) from the office floor and carried her to the nearest patch of grass, where (redacted) was placed on the ground in a position of recovery to await medical attention.
Los Angeles Fire Department Engine #29, who was standing by, immediately responded to the location to assess (redacted) (redacted) (redacted) was placed on the stretcher and in the back of the Falck Ambulance.
(redacted) was transported to (redacted) Hospital for further medical treatment of her injuries.
On May 2, 2025, at approximately 9:35 a.m., Baldwin Park Police Department Officers responded to the baldwin park unified school district to conduct further investigation of the incident.
Investigators then interviewed an additional victim, identified as (redacted), who was a director for the Baldwin Park Unified School District and was present at the scene.
On May 1, 2025 at approximately 9:17 a.m., (redacted) received a telephone call from (redacted).
As (redacted) talked on the phone with (redacted), he heard (redacted) in the background stating “20 million dollars.”
(redacted) said (redacted) told him to respond to Olive Middle School regarding an individual (redacted) causing a disturbance.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., (redacted) arrived and met with (redacted) inside the main office of Olive Middle School.
(redacted) handed the letter to (redacted), and he examined it. As a district method, (redacted) began to question (redacted) regarding her retirement.
As (redacted) questioned (redacted), she began to become acquainted and stated, “I dont want to talk to you.”
As (redacted) attempted to converse with (redacted), he observed her holding a softball.
(redacted) described the softball to be hollow and manipulated with a clear plastic object, pushing and pulling it out of the softball.
(redacted) said he questioned (redacted) about the softball, and she replied with, “We can all go out together.”
(redacted) stated once hearing that statement from (redacted), he advised (redacted) and (redacted), the school should be evacuated, as he believed to be an explosive device.
(redacted) stated during the conversation he was having with (redacted), (redacted) attempted to walk out of the main office from the exit door located on the north side of the building.
(redacted) stated the school security stood outside the exit door, preventing (redacted), to exit the main office.
(redacted) approached the exit door and closed it.
(redacted) stated he closed the door believing she had an explosive device, and she attempted to leave the main office from the rear exit door would jeopardize the safety of the students.
(redacted) stated (redacted) attempted to walk out of the main office as students were being evacuated from the school.
(redacted) stated he continued to question (redacted) about the softball.
(redacted) stated (redacted) would say statements such as “I’m going to ignite this” and “this is going to be over soon.”
Based on the statements (redacted) heard from (redacted) (redacted) was in fear of his life and the students’ lives, believing (redacted) had an explosive device and was capable of detonating it.
(redacted) had nothing further to add, so investigators concluded the interview.
