Driver fled the scene after crashing into a Baldwin Park auto repair business early Sunday morning, leaving behind significant property damage and prompting an ongoing hit-and-run investigation.
At approximately 2:10 a.m., a driver collided with the Auto Shop, near the intersection of Bess Avenue and Garvey Avenue, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department.
Its vehicle—described as a gray Dodge Durango—slammed into the business, striking the property’s perimeter fence and causing visible damage to the exterior of the auto shop.
No injuries were reported in connection with the crash.
According to the Baldwin Park Police Department, the Department was not notified of the collision until approximately 2:43 a.m., more than 30 minutes after the crash occurred, police said.
During their investigation, officers later located the suspect vehicle abandoned near a 7-Eleven at the intersection of Bess Avenue and Garvey Avenue, the Baldwin Park Police Department told Baldwin Park News.
Its vehicle was unoccupied when it was found and showed clear front-end collision damage, consistent with the crash at the auto shop, the Baldwin Park Police Department told Baldwin Park News.
No suspects were located at the scene, and no arrests had been made, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department.
At least one individual was last seen walking away from the area shortly after the crash, heading in the direction of Bess Avenue and Athol Street.
Its incident marks the second time BP Auto Repair has sustained damage due to a vehicle-related crash in recent years.
In November 2024, the business was damaged during a separate incident involving a police pursuit.
During that incident at that time, California Highway Patrol officers initiated a chase on the westbound 10 Freeway at approximately 2:59 a.m.
Its pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle lost control, overturned, and crashed into the auto shop’s fence, damaging multiple vehicles on the property.
Sunday morning’s hit-and-run collision remains under investigation.
