Fire broke out early Saturday morning at a popular family-owned Mexican restaurant in Baldwin Park.
Its blaze was first reported at approximately 7:08 a.m. at Taqueria La Chilanguita, located in the 3700 Block of Baldwin Park Boulevard.
Firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the Baldwin Park Police Department were immediately dispatched to the scene following 9-1-1 calls reporting smoke coming from the restaurant.
Firefighters arrived on the scene within five minutes and found thick smoke billowing from the single-story commercial structure.
Los Angeles County Fire Department Firefighters quickly declared it a working fire by approximately 7:15 a.m., as smoke filled the morning air.
Firefighters launched a rapid and aggressive response, attacking the flames from multiple directions to prevent the fire from spreading.
Its fire was quickly contained and knocked down, and the damage was largely contained to the restaurant’s interior.
No injuries were reported, and no one was inside the building at the time the fire broke out.
Its restaurant was scheduled to open at approximately 8:00 a.m., just under an hour later.
Taqueria La Chilanguita was founded in 2013, and has become a staple in the Baldwin Park community, known for its authentic Mexican dishes, including chilaquiles, enchiladas, tacos, and other traditional favorites.
Its restaurant has also played an active role in the local community, including serving as a sponsor for the Baldwin Park Street Market in the Park 2025.
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, and at this time, it is unknown when the restaurant will reopen.

Bomberos del Departamento de Bomberos del Condado de Los Ángeles y del Departamento de Policía de Baldwin Park fueron enviados de inmediato a la escena luego de que las llamadas al 9-1-1 informaran que salía humo del restaurante.
Los bomberos llegaron a la escena en cinco minutos y encontraron humo espeso saliendo de la estructura comercial de un piso.
