Man suffered serious injuries after being violently assaulted near a church festival in Baldwin Park late Friday night.
Its incident occurred shortly after approximately 10:00 p.m. near the intersection of Baldwin Park Boulevard and La Rica Avenue.
Just as the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church’s annual parish festival was coming to an end for the evening.
According to the Baldwin Park Police Department, the victim had just left the festival when he was approached and violently attacked by several individuals near the outer edge of the festival grounds.
The motive behind the assault remained unclear.
After the attack, the victim reportedly drove himself to Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department.
Where he was treated for significant head injuries, the Baldwin Park Police Department told Baldwin Park News.
St. John the Baptist Catholic Church festival is a well-known, three-day community event held each May.
It features live entertainment, food vendors, carnival rides, games, and a silent auction.
