Baldwin Park Police Department is investigating a suspected arson following a fire that broke out Monday evening at the Baldwin Park Transit Center Parking Structure.
At approximately 7:00 p.m., fire alarms were triggered at the five-story parking structure, prompting an immediate response from the Baldwin Park Police Department and the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered a trash can ablaze inside the elevator on the top level of the pedestrian bridge that connects the parking structure to the Metrolink station.
Firefighters responded swiftly, extinguishing the flames before they could spread to other areas of the structure.
No injuries were reported, and the building itself sustained no significant damage, the Baldwin Park Police Department told Baldwin Park News.
Baldwin Park Police Department was treating the fire as a suspected deliberate act of arson.
Its Department was reviewing surveillance footage to identify several individuals seen in the vicinity at the time of the incident.
According to the Baldwin Park Police Department, three to four individuals, possibly juveniles, were observed fleeing the area shortly after the fire ignited.
