Baldwin Park is thrilled to announce the 29th Annual Pride of the Valley 5K Run & Walk, scheduled for Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Morgan Park, located in the 4100 Block of Baldwin Park Boulevard.
Its beloved summer tradition will feature the Pride of the Valley 5K, the High School Road Race 5K, a half-mile Tike Trot, and a Virtual Pride of the Valley 5K.
“The Pride of the Valley 5K is undoubtedly one of the most exciting summer events in Baldwin Park,” said Baldwin Park Mayor Emmanuel J. Estrada. “Now in its 29th year, this race not only promotes healthy habits for community members of all ages, it also offers a fast course that can be truly competitive. We’re thrilled to once again host this event that brings our community together in such a positive way. Whether you’re a seasoned runner looking to set a personal best or a family wanting to enjoy a fun morning out, this event is for you.”
Its event will commence at 7:30 a.m. with the half-mile Tike Trot, designed for children aged 8 and under.
Following this, the Pride of the Valley 5K and the High School Road Race 5K, both covering a distance of 3.1 miles, will commence at 8:00 a.m.
Its start and finish lines for both races are at Morgan Park.
Participants will navigate a scenic course that runs north on Baldwin Park Boulevard, East on Joanbridge Street, South on Maine Avenue, West on Olive Street, and then South again on Baldwin Park Boulevard, concluding back at Morgan Park.
Online registration is currently open and will close on August 3, 2024, at 9:00 a.m.
Registrations will also be accepted on-site during the event.
Registration fees are $32.80 for the 5K (including the virtual option) and $22.20 for the Tike Trot.
Upon crossing the finish line, each participant will get a finisher’s medal and the opportunity to purchase a souvenir t-shirt while supplies are available.
As a USA Track & Field (USATF) sanctioned event, the Pride of the Valley 5K will feature an awards ceremony honoring the top finishers.
Awards will be presented to the top 3 finishers in each age division, the top 5 finishers in the high school age division, and the top 3 Boys’ and Girls’ teams in the high school race.
Overall winners of the Pride of the Valley 5K will also be eligible for cash prizes, and those who set new course records will earn additional monetary incentives.
Runners can monitor their progress with chip timing and mile splits throughout the race.
After the races, attendees are invited to a festive post-race party featuring complimentary refreshments and awards presentations.
Vehicle traffic on the track will be affected not just during the race, but also soon before and after it.
Additionally, Baldwin Park offers a Free Club for runners, joggers, and walkers.
Meeting every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 7:30 a.m. at the Baldwin Park Community Center Steps at Morgan Park.
