On Thursday, September 10, 2020, at approximately 8:00 am, Baldwin Park Police Officers responded to the 13700 Block of Monterey Avenue regarding an assault on a 40-year-old Adult female.
Once officers arrived, officers discovered that the suspect of the assault had also attempted to set a church on fire using an incendiary device (Molotov cocktail).
During the investigation, officers located evidence of a Molotov cocktail thrown at a church however, the Molotov cocktail extinguished itself and did not cause extensive damage.
Officers subsequently located the suspect an Adult Male in his 30s in the rear yard of a nearby residence armed with two more Molotov cocktails.
Upon contact with the suspect, the suspect advanced at two officers and attacked them by throwing lighted Molotov cocktails at them.
One landing on the street and the other landing on an officer’s police vehicle, catching it on fire.
Officers subdued the suspect and subsequently arrested him. A nearby resident was able to extinguish the burning police vehicle with a water hose.
This is an ongoing investigation. Sheriff’s Arson Explosives were also investigating the incident.

Un arresto, intento de asesinato de agentes de policía con bombas
El jueves, septiembre 10, 2020, aproximadamente a las 8:00 am, los oficiales de policía de Baldwin Park respondieron al bloque 13700 de Monterey Avenue con respecto a un asalto a una mujer adulta de 40 años.

Los oficiales sometieron al sospechoso y posteriormente lo arrestaron. Un residente cercano pudo extinguir el vehículo policial en llamas con una manguera de agua.
Esta es una investigación en curso. Sheriff’s Arson Explosives también estaban investigando el incidente.
